And who is behind this site?

My name is Wolfgang Bertsch, born in 1959 in Bietigheim-Bissingen, a town just north of Stuttgart, in the southwest of Germany. So I'm a typical Swabian ...
I currently live in Freiberg am Neckar, a small town near my place of birth. Some of you may still know it from the International TI-User Meeting 1999, which was held here.

As you can see on this pages, turning with me (almost) everything to my computer. The TI99/4A enriched my life since 1981. In autumn these year I bought the first console and would never have dreamed what will happen once. Meanwhile, I have probably more computers than I can count (smile..).
Seriously, I have now several home computers and PCs, but the TI99/4A remains my main computer. Of course, no longer in the original equipment - I still have it - now I'm working with a fully expanded snug 99/4P including RAM disk, hard disk and CD drive.
This all comes naturally not by accident. After that time Texas Instruments stopped the support, users had no alternative but to organize themselves in clubs. So I became in 1984 a member of the TI-club ERRORFREE, later I became the editor of the club-info (our club magazine) and I am now for many years the chairman of the association.
From the beginning my focus on computers was on the software side, the programming. So I taught myself BASIC, c99 (a TI clone of c or c++) and TMS9900 assembler and write till today that programs for the TI99/4A. Some of these programs can be found in Download area.
My commitment for the TI results even in a few awards. More about them you can find on the next page .
Professionally I work with computers, too, but only a little. It's enough for programming simple things on the PC at work with various macro languages - and of course this website :-). Usually I work as comumnication electronics repairmen in customer home service.

Computers are, of course, not the sole purpose of my life. I like to listen to good music, whether classical, rock, pop and folk music, but prefer nice old Jazz. And I sing myself - in the church choir.
Another great passion is history, which has occupied me for a long time. I am also a member of the historical society of my hometown. And for some time now I have been working as a city guide. A good start for my (un)retirement.
On holiday I like to travel far and wide, have seen many countries of the world. Most of all I am moving through the air, so never miss an opportunity to fly, no matter what. Unfortunately's often a lack of time and opportunity.
And then there are the many street festivals, open-air concerts and Hocketse (an old Swabian custom). There is so much to celebrate ...

However, I have for all of this (including the TI - unfortunately) now only a little time.

Sure there may be more things to say about me. But no one should overdo it. So, who wants to know more, should ask me directly. I guarantee that every (sensible) question is answered.
